What Is Thicknet Cable?
Thicknet is often used as a backbone in a local area network environment. it transmits data at speeds of 10Mbps, covers distances of up to 1640 feet or 500 meters and accomodates up to 100 nodes per segment. but because of its rigicity, its very difficutl to work with.
thick net a much thicker cable than thinet. there are some other differences. i hope this explained what is a thicknet wire. i also use this type of cable for ds3 (t3) circuits.
here is a picture of a thicknet cable. it looks similar to a thinnet.
a loose connection or missing terminator could cause erratic network performance. this will lead to reduced speed, error counts in high-frame transmission. or even a lack of network connectivity . when using thincknet, a malfunction transceiver could also cause excessive packet trasmission or frame transmission errors.
did this help you explain and understand thicknet?
