LDAP is a protocol suite used to enable applications to access information stored in X.500-compatible directories. Inforamtion sotred in these directories includes user names, email addresses and so on.. LDSP is based on the X.500 standard, but is much simpler in its implementation. LPD/LPR which stands for Line Printer Daemon/Line Printer remote and it enables the transfer of print jobs betwwen networked workstations and printers. the LPD protion of the software typically resides in the printer, the LPR portion on the workstation..
