how would i go about updating my apache server.

i have some modules that i need in order to run a new application

and the installation instructions request that i have to have the newest version of apache.

i leased a dedicated server with you for about 5 years and i have not had the need to upgrade my web server until now..

how can i update without disrupting my other websites?

you can update your apache2 server with this command in linux:

yum update apache


NOTE: we cannot guarantee that when you update your web server, your old applications will be compatible with the upgrade, for that, you should consult with your application provider. so if you are not sure about this. you should definitely check with them first before you start chaning anything on your server because if you update and then you find problems with your services, you will have a difficult time getting back the server and you run the risk of losing any data. so its imperative that you backup before you start doing anything. but first, get information.
