How To Test Connection To Mysql Apache Php

ok, i am doing this script in php,

i gathered all the information i need. and it doesnt seem to be working.

the mysql database information you provide i put on my script like the username and password and even the database table name, but its not working

how can i test the connections is works with the username you gave me. it hink you might have given me the wrong username
