i was playing around with my linux server. im new at this so i had no idea what i was doing. but for some reason i am getting this error now:
warning: cannot get exclusive lock on /var/lib/rpm/Packages

i followed your tutorial step by ste, but now i do know why i am getting this error. i guess i has something to do with my fooling around with some of the directories in lib directory. can you show me how to place an exclusive lock on a folder? since i have no idea how i put it in the first place.

ill give you the answer to fix this:

check whether a second instance of rpm is already running

the error stated here is usually caused by another instance of rpm already running. killing the other rpm instance should solve the problem.
