if i were u, i use ghost
Ghost for Linux is a hard drive/partition cloning and imaging tool similar to "Norton Ghost" by Symantec.
The images created with Ghost for Linux are optionally compressed, and they can be stored on a local hard drive or can be transferred to an anonymous FTP server.
A hard drive can be cloned using the "Click'n'Clone" function. Ghost for Linux supports file splitting if the local filesystem does not support writing files bigger than 2GB. The included kernel supports ATA, serial-ATA, and SCSI drives.
Ghost for Linux supports common network cards. It is packaged as a bootable CD image (ISO) with an ncurses GUI for easy use.
Cloning is like copying. No image file is created during the cloning process. During cloning, Ghost for Linux copies files from the source partition (or disk) to the destination (target). The thing that makes G4L's cloning features so powerful is that ALL the files are copied.
Ghost for Linux's cloning feature is typically used to copy the contents of one disk/partition (usually older/smaller) to another (usually newer/larger). Some caution that, if a boot drive is involved, you must set a partition on the new drive as the ACTIVE partition. You can do this with FDISK.
Today has just been released the 0.20 version via SourceForge mirrors around the world. New features in this version are:
• Name resolution now works.
• A patch for SIS5513 was added.
• Busybox was updated to version 1.1.3.
• New kernels were added.

i use Partimage
Partimage is a Linux utility which saves partitions having a supported filesystem to an image file. Most Linux and Windows filesystems are supported. The image file can be compressed with the gzip / bzip2 programs to save disk space, and they can be splitted into multiple files to be copied on CDs / DVDs, ... Partitions can also be saved across the network since version 0.6.0 using the partimage network support, or using Samba / NFS. If you don't want to install Partimage, you can download and burn SystemRescueCd. It's a livecd that allows to use Partimage immediately even if your computer has no operating system installed (useful to restore an image), and it allows to save an image on a DVD on the fly
