to specify a minimum legnth for passwords in windows server 2003, modify the local security policy and change the minimum pass word legnth option. to change the setting or properties, follow these steps:

1. go to: start > administrative tools > Local Security Policy or Domain Security Policy > Account Policy > Minimum password length then you will see a window like this.
win2003-mininum-password

2. make the changes and click ok

you can also change it for windows xp password length and for gpo password length. not quite sure if its the same for vista password length, but the procedure you send me about change password complexity windows server 2003 only works to reset admin password windows 2003 [win2003] server and i only have a windows server 2003 which lets you also change domain name and change ip address windows server 2008 [win2008] do you have another tutorial?

what i did i went into the control panel and under administrative i found a dropdown which said minimum password legth but did not see the others property settings
