If a problem occurs only in warm weather or after the computer’s been running for a while after starting, you may need to get a better heat sink or fan for your CPU or improve the computer’s internal case ventilation.
The Lm_sensors package
http://secure.netroedge.com/~lm78/
is a good way to monitor your CPU’s temperature, assuming your motherboard includes temperaturemonitoring features, as most Pentium II, Athlon, or better motherboards do. The ACPI tools also provide a means to monitor your CPU’s temperature.

You can use files in the /proc/acpi directory to monitor your system and to change defaults.
Try using cat to view the contents of some of these files, as in cat /proc/acpi/event to view
recent ACPI events. Various tools can link into these files to provide you with useful information,
such as your CPU’s temperature and battery status. The acpi program is one of these tools; type
acpi -V to have the system display all the information it can.
if the command does not work, try installing the acpid daemon
yum install acpid

i use speedfan, but i installed it on windows, not sure about linux
you can find speedfan at:
www . almico . com
what it does:
speedfan is a freeware program that monitors fan speeds and temperatures in computers with
a known monitoring chip. its main feature is that it can control the speed of the fans
according to the temperatures inside your pc, thus reducing noise and power consumption.
speedfan can also access s.m.a.r.t. data and temperatures from eide, sata and scsi hard
disks.
