i can ping by ip address but not domain name

what does this mean?

i have tried using windows xp and linux computer but i cannot,

what can i be doing wrong?

hmm, i tried on my windows xp machine seting it up using automatic dhcp and it works

i think my admin guy just gave me the wrong dns.

make sure you have a dns server in your setup.

otherwise, this is a common issue when there is a bad dns server.

check that, if you still cant fix it. let us know
