Which are the proper HTML Extensions to use in my HTML we pages

you can save a HTML file as .html or .htm  the reason why in the past it was only used .htm was because some programs only allowed three letters as the file extension, but now you can use more than 3 its not limited to three letters. Now we newer software, its no problem to use more than 3 letters, such as .htmt
